Birmingham Airport Terminal

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is the main international airport serving the city of Birmingham in Alabama, United States. 

It hosts over 136 flights to 43 airports, in total 301 aircraft operations a day, being the largest airport in the state of Alabama. Birmingham Airport Terminal not only hosts commercial flights – It is also used by the Air National Guard.

Currently, Birmingham Airport has a new terminal building that counts with three concourses (A, B and C). They were opened in 2013 and 2014 and are distributed in two different levels.

The Airport is also home of four major US airlines: Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest airlines.

Transfer between concourses

You can transfer from one concourse to each other by the terminal upper level corridor (north-south and east-west).


Birmingham Airport Terminal has a round shape form and is split into two levels:

Ground level

Find here the baggage claim facilities. Also, facing the terminal, find the ground transportation options (taxi, bus, car rental) and pick up and drop off options. Other services available: airport offices, meeting rooms, service animal relief area, police station, nursing room, help desk, toilets, pay phones, ATMs and many airlines offices. Amenities such as restaurants and cafés are also available. Access to the upper floor by escalators and lifts.

Upper level

This level host the Check-in facilities. Find also a corridor from north to south and from east to west which links all three concourses and boarding gates (A1 to A8, B1 to B5 and C1 to C5) to the main terminal. Other services available: Business centre, ticketing and check-in, function room, charging stations, prayer room, security checkpoint, shoe shine, service animal relief area, toilets, pay phones, ATMs, nursing room, observation deck and family restroom. Amenities such as restaurants and cafés are also available. Access to the lower floor by escalators and lifts.

You can find the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham Airport. It is located in the north-south runway.
